Masimo Introduces W1 Health Watch

Irvine-based Masimo Corp. (Nasdaq: MASI), a maker of wireless blood and oxygen monitoring devices for hospitals, introduced its first ever watch, the W1.“The first of its kind, the Masimo W1 offers accurate, continuous measurements and actionable health insights – from the leader in hospital pulse oximetry – in a personal, discreet, lifestyle-friendly wrist-worn wearable,” the company said in a statement.

The W1 provides continuous monitoring of oxygen saturation, pulse rates, perfusion indexes and respiration rates, alongside step count and fall detection. The company is releasing only 10,000 W1s on a first-come, first-served basis, at a 50% discount, to users who agree to the program details and to provide feedback and data to Masimo.

“We are today debuting the first wearable device to offer accurate and continuous physiological measurements based on the technology we’ve honed for use in hospitals for more than three decades,” Masimo Chief Executive Joe Kiani said in a statement.

The company made the introduction today, which is the 33rd anniversary of its founding by Kiani.

The company said the Masimo W1 is not FDA-cleared.
