ICU Medical Wins Patent Infringement Suit

San Clemente-based medical device maker ICU Medical Inc. said Tuesday that it won a patent infringement case earlier this month against a Tennessee company.

ICU said in a statement that a federal jury found on Dec. 17 that InVision Plus, an intravenous connector made by Franklin, Tenn.-based RyMed Technologies Inc., infringed on two patents owned by ICU and relating to its core Clave product lines.

The device maker also said the jury confirmed that ICU’s patents were valid.

RyMed didn’t immediately return a call requesting comment.

ICU, which has annual sales of about $280 million, makes needleless connectors and other devices used to deliver intravenous fluids and cancer drugs.
