The Ensign Group Inc. (Nasdaq: ENSG) today made two announcements about a series of acquisitions made in Alabama and Utah.

The San Juan Capistrano provider of senior living services acquired a 90-bed skilled nursing facility in Birmingham, Alabama, expanding its existing footprint in the region.

“We are thrilled to add another operation to our growing Alabama market,” Ensign Chief Executive Barry Port said in a statement. “We can’t wait to continue building on our recent growth in the Southeast and this facility is the perfect next step to do that.”

Ensign also announced that it acquired seven Stonehenge skilled nursing facilities, ranging from 30 to 90 beds, across various parts of Utah.

The real estate was acquired by Standard Bearer Healthcare REIT Inc., a subsidiary of Ensign, according to the company.

The latest acquisitions bring Ensign’s growing portfolio to 369 healthcare operations, including 47 senior living operations, and 155 real estate assets across 17 states.

Shares in Ensign rose 1.4% to $182.67 and a $10.5 billion market cap.
