Irvine-based Edwards Lifesciences Corp. has appointed Scott Ullem as its new corporate vice president and chief financial officer.
Ullem succeeds Thomas Abate, who is retiring after serving as Edwards’ financial chief since 2006.
Ullem comes to Edwards from Bemis Company, Inc., a Neenah, Wis.-based maker of packaging materials. He was Bemis’ vice president and chief financial officer since 2010; his background also includes stints at the investment banking divisions of New York-based Goldman Sachs Group Inc. and Charlotte, N.C,-based Bank of America Corp.
He has degrees from DePauw University in Indiana and Harvard Business School.
Edwards’ shares were up 1% in midday trading to a market value of $7.1 billion.
