Wastewater Outfit Buys Firm in Canada

Costa Mesa-based wastewater solids reduction and removal company JWC Environmental acquired IPEC Consultants in Canada on undisclosed terms.

IPEC is a family-owned manufacturer of solids-and-liquid separation products for wastewater.

JWC designs and manufactures its Monster Separation Systems at a plant in Santa Ana. It also has factories in Buford, Ga., Cheshire, U.K., and Hangzhou, China. The systems are installed in water treatment facilities to grind and filter out solid waste from sewer water.

JWC has annual revenue estimated at more than $50 million and about 115 employees in OC and over 150 overall. It said the acquisition will add 20 employees.

Newport Beach-based private equity firm Windjammer Capital Investors acquired JWC in August 2011. It manages about $2 billion in capital and targets companies with gross earnings of $10 million to $40 million.

IPEC founder and owner Bert Irwin plans to join the JWC executive team.
