Healthcare-oriented early stage investor Versant Ventures is raising a $250 million fund, according to a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
The latest fund is the fifth for Menlo Park-based Versant, which has an office in Newport Beach.
William Link, a managing director at the firm’s Orange County office, will help oversee the fund, as well as with Managing Director Kirk Nielsen in the firm’s recently opened Minneapolis office and with five others in the Menlo Park office.
Versant has been investing out of a $500 million fund raised in 2008.
It invests in companies in various healthcare sectors, including pharmaceuticals, biotechnology and medical device manufacturing, and currently manages more than 75 portfolio companies.
