Santa Ana-based private security company Universal Protection Service last week acquired Protection Plus Security Corp. in New York on undisclosed terms.
Universal Protection is part of Universal Services of America, which employs about 27,000 workers total, including about 2,000 in Orange County.
The parent company had $662 million in revenue last year and operates through various divisions.
The company’s divisions include building maintenance and fire-and-life safety services.
Protection Plus has about $20 million in annual revenue and 750 employees.
Universal Protection’s latest acquisition is expected to help the company expand in the Northeast U.S., according to Steve Jones, co-chief executive and chief operating officer of Universal Services.
The company first gained a presence in that region earlier this year, when it acquired a security division of New York-based T&M Protection Resources LLC.
