Ensign Buys 3 Nursing Facilities

Mission Viejo-based Ensign Group Inc. said today it bought one skilled nursing facility in Washington and a subsidiary bought two skilled nursing facilities in Utah, on undisclosed terms.

The Washington property is Bainbridge Island Health and Rehabilitation, a 69-bed operation.

The Utah properties are Wasatch Healthcare and Rehabilitation in Ogden with 63 beds, and the 130-bed St. George Rehabilitation, in St. George.

Ensign said it bought the buildings and real estate of all three sites.

The healthcare facilities company now operates 150 healthcare facilities and 45 home health care, hospice and urgent care agencies and clinics in 12 states.

This year it has bought facilities in Utah, Idaho, Colorado, Nebraska and Texas which, taken together, show an arc of acquisitions from the Pacific Northwest through the Midwest and mid-Southern U.S.

Shares in Ensign were up about 1% in morning trading to a $1.1 billion market cap.
