Chapman University has named Paul Paton dean of the Fowler School of Law and Donald P. Kennedy Chair in Law.
Paton is an expert in legal ethics and former interim CEO of the Canadian Bar Association. He will join Chapman on June 30.
Paton is currently the Thomas W. Lawlor Professor of Law and Ethics at the University of Alberta, Canada, where he served as Dean of Law and Wilbur Fee Bowker Professor of Law between 2014-2019.
“I’m excited,” Paton told the Business Journal yesterday in advance of the public announcement. “It’s a terrific opportunity and wonderful to be there.”
He previously served as the inaugural vice provost at University of the Pacific and as professor of law at the university’s McGeorge School of Law in Sacramento.
