University of California-Irvine School of Law moved up two places to No. 28 on the U.S. News & World Report’s annual ranking of the nation’s graduate school programs for law schools, released earlier this week.
The latest lists were released Wednesday. UCI’s law school tied with University of Alabama’s law school in Tuscaloosa. The report ranked 144 law schools altogether.
UCI’s law school scored in the top 12 for student diversity, 13th for its clinical training program, 23rd for legal writing and 25th for its intellectual property law program. The school made its debut last year at 30th—the highest of any new law school in the history of the report.
“The US News ranking, of course, is only one measure of the outstanding law school we have created,” Dean Erwin Chemerinsky said. “But I am delighted that we are 28th in only our second year and I expect that to improve significantly in the years ahead.”
Chapman University’s Fowler School of Law was ranked No. 136, in a four-way tie with the law schools of Pace University, in White Plains, NY; the University of Akron, in Ohio; and Bowen Law School at the University of Arkansas in Little Rock.
