OC Jobless Rate Rose to 4% in June

Non-farm jobs increase

The unemployment rate in Orange County was 4% in June, up from a revised 3.2% in May, and above the year-ago estimate of 3.6 %.
That compares to an unadjusted unemployment rate of 5.3%  for California and 4.3% for the nation during the same period, according to the California Employment Development Department.
Between May and June, total nonfarm employment in OC increased from about 1.7 million to 1.71 million for a gain of 5,400 jobs.
The largest month-over-month gain was in leisure and hospitality, an increase of  2,400 jobs. Private education and health services was the only industry sector to decline, losing 2,800 jobs.
