Terran Orbital Providing Satellite Structural Components to Parent Lockheed

Sees accelerated production timelines

Irvine-based Terran Orbital Corp., a manufacturer of small satellites, said it will provide 18 satellite structural components to parent company Lockheed Martin for the Space Development Agency’s (SDA’s) missile-tracking, warning and defense network.
The structural components, called satellite “buses,” will be used in the Tranche 3 Tracking Layer under the SDA’s Proliferated Warfighter Space Architecture. The bus is the main body and framework holding the satellite’s sophisticated electronics.
Terran Orbital’s high-rate manufacturing approach and flight-proven satellite bus designs will support the accelerated production timelines required for the program, the company said in a statement today.
