Irvine’s Blizzard Entertainment Inc. is designing Diablo 4, according to a report in France’s Le Monde newspaper and subsequent chatter on several gaming sites.
Le Monde said, however, that the long-awaited next iteration of the popular game franchise won’t be ready until at least 2020; Blizzard told the Business Journal, “we don’t have anything to announce at this time.”
The game designer behind World of Warcraft and Overwatch—the latter including a growing gaming league—is a unit of Santa Monica-based Activision Blizzard Inc. (Nasdaq: ATVI) in Santa Monica, which trades at about a $36 billion market cap.
