Chapman University’s School of Pharmacy has received Western Association of Schools and Colleges approval to offer Ph.D. degrees in Pharmaceutical Sciences.
The pharmacy school is at Chapman’s health sciences campus in Irvine and it will start the Ph.D. program in the fall with two students, with plans eventually to increase that to 16 students.
The new Ph.D. degree will strengthen partnerships with the surrounding industry, according to Dean Ronald Jordan.
The Ph.D. is the third degree program offered by the school of pharmacy since it opened in 2012. The other two are an M.S. in Pharmaceutical Sciences and a three-year, accelerated Doctor of Pharmacy, a degree required to be licensed as a pharmacist.
