Midday Stock Roundup

The S&P 500 was down 0.5% in midday trading to 1,991.43.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 0.2% to 17,039.23.

The NASDAQ was down 0.4% to 4,688.92.

The yield on a 10-year Treasury bond was down 3.4% to 1.84%.

The price of gold was flat at $1,264.

TECHNOLOGY

Irvine-based Western Digital Corp. was down 5% to 47.22 and an $11 billion market cap. The memory products maker said today it would begin to release preliminary financing information in connection with its planned acquisition of SanDisk Corp., which goes to a shareholder vote on Tuesday, March 15.

SERVICES

Anaheim-based Willdan Group Inc. was up 6% to $9.12 and a $72 million market cap. The engineering company plans to report quarterly earnings Thursday. It said recently that its acquisition of Pelham, N.Y.-based Genesys Engineering PC would cost $12.6 million, to include $6 million in upfront cash, $2 million in Willdan common stock, and $4.6 million in equal monthly payments over the next two years beginning March 26.
