The S&P 500 rose less than 1%, to 1,419.
The yield on a 10-year treasury bond was up about 2% to nearly 2%.
The price of gold rose about 1% to $1,638 per ounce.
Irvine-based patient monitor maker Masimo Corp. was up about 5% to $23 to a market capitalization of about $1 billion.
Irvine-based data management software company TigerLogic Corp. was down about 9% to $2 and a market cap of $55 million.
