The S&P 500 was up 0.05% to 1,404.66.
The yield on a 10-year bond rose 4.4% to 1.8%.
The price of gold was up 0.21% to $1,602.70.
Shares of Irvine-based Impac Mortgage Holdings Inc. surged 89% to $4.24 a day after the company reported increased profitability in its mortgage lending business. Impac has a market value of about $31 million.
Irvine-based Netlist Inc. was down 18.68% to $1.55 to a market value of about $44 million. Netlist, which makes memory boards used to manage servers, reported on Tuesday June quarter revenue down and a widened loss compared with the year-ago period.
