The S&P 500 slipped 0.60% to 1,855.36 in afternoon trading Monday.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 0.27% to 16,259.40, while the Nasdaq was off 1.45% to 4,214.77.
The yield on a 10-year Treasury bond fell 0.65% to 2.73%.
The price of gold was down 1.84% to $1,311.40 per ounce.

Shares of Foothill Ranch-based Wet Seal Inc. was off about 15% to $1.31, continuing its slide from Friday when the company closed down nearly 8% after reporting a disappointing outlook for the current quarter. B. Riley lowered its rating on the company’s stock from “neutral” to “sell.” Wet Seal had a recent market value of $109.31 million.
TECHNOLOGY
Irvine-based Western Digital Corp. fell about 2% to $87.10 for a market value of $20.57 billion.
HEALTHCARE
Irvine heart valve maker Edwards Lifesciences Corp. was down about 2% to $70.78 for a market value of $7.59 billion.
