The S&P 500 fell 0.28% to 1,871.84 in afternoon trading Tuesday.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average was off 0.25% to 16,377.13, while the Nasdaq was down 0.16% to 4,327.60.
The yield on a 10-year Treasury bond slipped 0.32% to 2.78%.
The price of gold rose 0.22% to $1,344.50 per ounce.
APPAREL
Huntington Beach-based apparel maker and retailer Quiksilver Inc. was up about 3% to $7.96 for a market value of $1.35 billion. The company said last week it continues to work on its profit improvement plan and reported a narrowed adjusted loss for the January quarter compared to a year earlier.
SERVICES
Newport Beach-based patent licensing company Acacia Research Corp. was off about 3% to $14.38. The company said yesterday its Brandywine Communications Technologies LLC subsidiary reached a settlement agreement with Windstream Corp. and Allworx Corp.
TECHNOLOGY
Costa Mesa-based printed circuit board maker TTM Technologies Inc. was trading down about 3% to $8.15 for a market value of $673.75 million.
