The S&P 500 was down 0.33% to 1,871.93 in afternoon trading Monday.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 0.49% to 16,371.55, while the Nasdaq slipped 0.37% to 4,320.34.
The yield on a 10-year Treasury bond was off 0.14% to 2.79%.
The price of gold rose 0.26% to $1,342.30 per ounce.
REAL ESTATE
Newport Beach-based William Lyon Homes was off about 3% to $29.51 for a market value of $915.70 million. Homebuilders were generally down on Monday.
HEALTHCARE
Aliso Viejo-based drug maker Avanir Pharmaceuticals Inc. was down about 6% to $4.22 for a market value of $641.93 million.
