Major U.S. indexes posted strong recoveries following weeks of losses in Monday midday trading, led by the Dow Jones Industrial Average, which jumped 1.9% to 27,699.05.
The S&P 500 rose 1.8% to 3,357.27, and the Nasdaq increased 1.7% to 11,097.82.
Crude oil was up 0.5% to $40.44.
Gold ticked 0.9% higher to $1,883.50.
The yield on a 10-year Treasury bond rose 0.6% to 0.66%.
TRADE SHOWS
Emerald Holding Inc. (Nasdaq: EEX) surged 23% to $2.21 and a $158 million market cap, partially recovering from a 31% drop last week. Shares for the San Juan Capistrano producer of trade shows are currently trading at about four times their average volume and are still down significantly from the start of the year, when they traded at around $10.50 per share.
REAL ESTATE
Aliso Viejo-based The New Home Company (NYSE: NWHM) rose 6.4% to $5.02 and a $92 million market cap. The homebuilder recently won “Master-Planned Community of the Year” and “Attached Community of the Year” at the 2020 Northern California MAME Awards. Shares are up about 6% since the start of the year.
