The S&P 500 was down 0.4% to 2,985.53 in midday trading Friday.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 0.7% to 26,845.33, while the Nasdaq was down 0.9% to 8,081.35.
The yield on a 10-year Treasury bond was down 1.2% to 1.74%.
The price of gold fell 0.2% to $1,495.50.
Crude oil fell 0.8% to $53.51 a barrel.

Shares of Irvine software maker Alteryx Inc. (NYSE: AYX) were off 6.6% to $95.86 for a market value of $6 billion. Cloud-based software firms slumped earlier this week amid concerns for the sector’s increased competitive environment and shrinking IT budgets.
REAL ESTATE
Aliso Viejo homebuilder The New Home Company (NYSE: NWHM) rose 6.1% to $4.35 for a market value of $87 million. Homebuilders ticked up earlier this week after the latest survey from the National Association of Home Builders/Wells Fargo Housing Market Index showed builder confidence swelling to a 20-month high.
