Newport Beach-based Acacia Research Corp. (Nasdaq: ACTG) rose 13% to $3.50 and a $177 million market cap. Shares of the patent licenser have climbed six straight trading sessions since hitting a 52-week low on Aug. 16. Acacia owns about 31% of Veritone Inc., a technology firm whose shares have also risen in the past week following positive media coverage.

Irvine-based Tilly’s Inc. (NYSE: TLYS) declined 5.8% to $9.04 and a $260 million market cap. The shares had risen 10% yesterday before the retailer of action-sports apparel reported second-quarter revenue and adjusted profit that topped analyst estimates.
