Visitor Spending Rises in Irvine

Visitor spending in Irvine last year grew about 2% to $522 million, according to a report from Destination Irvine, the city’s destination marketing arm.

The top three areas of spending in the city were food and beverage ($148 million), accommodations ($125 million) and arts and entertainment ($110 million).

Destination Irvine is working to market the city’s restaurants, recreation and entertainment offerings with an eye on expanding its leisure business.

The organization is funded through the Hotel Improvement District that includes 14 of the city’s largest hotels.
