Monarch Beach Resort Rebrands Under Waldorf Astoria Flag

Less than a year after trading in Orange County’s largest-ever hotel sale, the Monarch Beach Resort announced it will rebrand under the Waldorf Astoria Hotels & Resorts flag, Hilton’s luxury brand.

This is the first property in Orange County for Waldorf Astoria, which counts a 32-hotel portfolio.

A new management partnership has been expected for the property since its sale last December for nearly $500 million.

Ohana Real Estate Investors LLC bought the 400-room property from KSL Resorts, which has been managing the property in the meantime.

Prior to the sale, KSL was said to be in discussions with management companies to rebrand the property, with the Four Seasons emerging as a likely contender.

The hotel closed in March like other area properties as a result of the pandemic, and reopened in June.

“We are incredibly excited about welcoming the resort and its team members to Hilton,” said Danny Hughes, executive vice president and president of Hilton Americas.

“We are already partnering with the team at Ohana Real Estate Investors as we transition the resort management, and we look forward to welcoming guests and members to Southern California’s premier luxury destination.”
