Long Beach Passengers Up 9%

Long Beach Airport passenger traffic grew 9% in April to 348,000, compared with the same period last year.

Year-to-date numbers are up 9.5% to more than 1.3 million.

All commercial airlines at the airport saw increases:

• JetBlue Airways was up 6% to 271,000

• Southwest Airlines was up 29% to 46,000

• Delta Air Lines was up 3% to 17,000

• American Airlines was up 23% to 14,000

Cargo tonnage declined about 22% to 1,429. It’s down 18% on the year, to 6,000 tons.

Hawaiian Airlines makes its inaugural flight to the Islands May 31. It plans to fly once daily between Long Beach and Honolulu.
