Knott’s Plans New Soak City Slides

Knott’s Berry Farm in Buena Park said it plans to begin building two new slide structures at its Knott’s Soak City water park and open them next summer.

Soak City is across Beach Boulevard from Knott’s Berry Farm; both parks are owned by Sandusky, Ohio-based Cedar Fair L.P., a publicly traded amusement park operator.

Slide structures are comparable to new rides at an amusement park; each structure’s tower has multiple slides and structures and slides each carry names and themes.

A Knott’s spokesperson said names of the new slides weren’t being disclosed.

The park’s plans also call for expansion of its main restaurant, Long Board’s Grill, and additional tented structures guests can rent to provide shaded cover during the day

Cedar Fair Regional Vice President Raffi Kaprelyan said in a statement the additions mean “Soak City will continue to welcome more Southern California families to enjoy their best day of summer.”

Soak City has new competition from Great Wolf Lodge in Garden Grove, a family-oriented hotel, water park, and arcade complex that opened in March.
