Greater Irvine Chamber is the new name of the former Irvine Chamber of Commerce.
The group said the new name reflects the growth of its efforts beyond the city line: 32% of chamber members are not located in Irvine, said Tallia Hart, Greater Irvine Chamber president and chief executive.
“Part of Irvine’s economic success is the chamber’s ability to engage a growing constituency,” she said in a press release.
The changes represent a “renewed promise to represent businesses throughout the Greater Irvine area and to attract businesses from around the world.”
The chamber’s work includes networking, economic development efforts, governmental advocacy, and, via its Destination Irvine unit, marketing the area for business travel and tourism.
Marketing agency Modera Inc. in Irvine worked on the renaming project.
