San Juan Capistrano-based Emerald Expositions Events Inc. (NYSE: EEX) named Sally Shankland president and chief executive on Monday, succeeding former CEO David Loechner, who stepped down late last year.
Interim President and CEO Phil Evans will continue in his role as the company’s chief financial officer.
Shankland founded consulting firm Astra Terra in 2017. She has 35 years of experience including two years as president of McGraw-Hill Higher Education and three years as chief executive of UBM Americas division, the culmination of a 20-year career there. Her work at each included leading transitions from print-based to digital-focused products and services, including events, marketing and business intelligence.
Emerald runs more than 55 trade shows in industries such as technology, sports, design, gift and home. Local shows include Swim and Active Collective at the Anaheim Convention Center and Hospitality Design Summit at Monarch Beach Resort in Dana Point.
