A new product from Lantronix Inc. (Nasdaq: LTRX) aims to provide greater control over the millions of interconnected electronic devices that make up the rapidly growing Internet of Things (IoT).
The Irvine-based computer networking products maker last month introduced Percepxion, which is built into Lantronix’s products including IoT gateways, routers, trackers and switches.
“Percepxion is a management software platform that allows remote provisioning, monitoring, servicing and management of IoT connectivity devices,” Lantronix Chief Executive Saleel Awsare told the Business Journal on Feb. 26.
He said the new development can handle anywhere from one to thousands of devices.
“Because Percepxion is a cloud-based platform, it can be accessed from virtually anywhere in the world where there is internet coverage,” the CEO said.
Take for example, centralized fleet management such as trucking.
Percepxion enables the user to remotely manage tracking devices that track vehicles from virtually anywhere.
It can also be used to monitor and control IoT devices that manage critical infrastructure such as power grids, underground fuel tanks and other remote, unmanned sites, according to the CEO.
Awsare took over the leadership of the $150 million-valued company last November from Paul Pickle, who left the company to become the CEO of Camarillo-based Semtech Corp. (Nasdaq: SMTC).
UST Expands Global Reach via Leonardo Buy
UST, the giant IT services company, is expanding its global reach, this time with a further move into Australia and New Zealand (ANZ).
UST said it has purchased Leonardo, a provider of business process improvement, automation, and integration services in the ANZ region. Financial details were not released.
The acquisition will enable Leonardo to expand its market reach and enhance its service offerings for clients, Aliso Viejo-based UST said.
Headquartered in Melbourne, Leonardo’s 70-plus employees will join UST to strengthen their combined capability to deliver digital advancements throughout the ANZ region, according to UST.
“Leonardo helps enterprises better understand, improve streamline and connect their business functions,” Leonardo Chief Executive Stephen Chetcuti told the Business Journal on Feb. 23.
25 Years
Leonardo has been in the ANZ market for more than 25 years helping clients establish a connected view of the business that drives relationships between strategy, processes, systems and platforms.
“We help our clients rebuild their processes by combining process-centric strategic thinking with enabling technologies that support their transformation, Chetcuti said.
Kumaran CR, managing director of Australia, UST, said: “Leonardo will strengthen our global intelligent automation consulting capabilities further and help grow the UST Smart-Ops platform business in the ANZ region.”
UST, with more than 30,000 employees in over 30 countries, has been active in the Australian market for the last eight years.
