Starting this week, gaming peripheral and technology company HyperX will present the Allied Esports online tournaments and broadcasts; the coronavirus has forced a temporary halt to in-person events in Las Vegas.
HyperX is the gaming unit of Fountain Valley-based Kingston Technology, one of OC’s largest private companies.
The new online events are open to all levels of play and offer prizes including cash and HyperX products.
After suspending events at HyperX Esports Arena Las Vegas on March 14 due to COVID-19, Allied Esports moved its weekly competitions online and added new games to the schedule, with streamed broadcasts of each event.
In 2018, Allied Esports and HyperX signed a naming rights deal spanning four properties across two continents.
Allied (Nasdaq: AESE) closed up about 5% Monday to a $44 million market cap.
