ROC out at Newport Office Park

Newport Beach-based Real Office Centers (ROC) voluntarily terminated its lease at 23 Corporate Plaza in Newport Beach according to a notice its sub-leasees received Monday.

Real Office Centers is now down to three locations where it rents co-working spaces in Orange County, all in buildings owned by the Irvine Company The landlord has filed lawsuits to evict ROC for delinquent rent at all of its OC locations.

Both parties told the Business Journal in June they were trying to forge an amicable settlement for all the locations.

On Monday, startups and other businesses who sub-lease space from ROC at the 23 Corporate Plaza location got a notice that Irvine Co. arranged for Premier Business Centers to take over for ROC so the companies could operate un-interrupted.

That’s in marked contrast to one of ROC’s spaces in Santa Monica, where landlord Hudson Pacific evicted ROC in late May, sending its sub-leasees scrambling to find new office space.

ROC Chief Executive Ron McElroy could not be reached for comment Tuesday.

Irvine-based Premier rents co-working spaces, virtual offices and other types of offices in ten states.
