OC500 2024: Jeff and Nancy Stack

Jeff and Nancy Stack
FOUNDERS
CYCTINOSIS RESEARCH FOUNDATION
NANCY AND GEOFFREY STACK FAMILY FOUNDATION

WHO: Jeff Stack is one of the founding partners of OC’s Sares Regis Group, a commercial and residential real estate development and management firm with an extensive portfolio of industrial buildings and apartment holdings both in SoCal and Northern California.

WHY: For more than 20 years, the Stacks have advocated for research with the potential to improve health outcomes for individuals diagnosed with rare diseases. Spurred by their daughter’s cystinosis diagnosis when she was just a baby, in 2003 the couple founded Irvine’s Cystinosis Research Foundation. The foundation’s support for University of California, San Diego helped propel research into improved treatment options for cystinosis, including the development of a slow-release medication to manage the disease.

IN THE NEWS: In March, the Stacks were honored with the UCSD Chancellor’s Medal Award for their support and activism through the Cystinosis Research Foundation.

NOTABLE: In addition to their work at UC San Diego, the Stacks support education, health and community-based programs in Orange County through the Nancy and Geoffrey Stack Family Foundation. In 2022, that foundation gave $2M for the emergency department in the new $1.3B UCI Health – Irvine medical campus being built on the corner of Jamboree Road and Birch Street in Irvine. The gift will name the patient welcome areas in the emergency department of the planned acute care hospital and at the Chao Family Comprehensive Cancer Care and Ambulatory Care building.

IN THEIR WORDS: “UCI Health is a beacon of hope in Orange County,” said Nancy Stack, at the time of the 2022 gift announcement. “The new medical complex will bring hope and healing to our region and will save lives. Jeff and I are honored to support such a worthwhile cause.”
