Kia Recalls Some Sorentos

Kia Motors America Inc. in Irvine is recalling 377,062 Sorentos CUVs, citing the potential to unintentionally shift out of park and roll away, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

The recall is for model years 2011 to 2013 manufactured Oct. 19, 2009 to Jan. 31, 2013. The automaker’s dealers will replace the brake-shift interlock mechanism free of charge starting Nov. 24. There were three reported injuries associated with the defect.

Kia, part of Hyundai Motor Group, reported selling 49,820 cars and SUVs last month, up 22.6% from a year earlier and its best September ever. Its year-to-date sales total 445,017, up 7%. Sorentos accounted for 9,380 vehicles sold last month and 85,761 year-to-date.
