Kia Sells 700K Units in 2021, Makes Company History

Kia America Inc. of Irvine reached a milestone in yearly revenue after totalling 48,506 units sold in December, pushing the company’s annual total past the 700k mark for the first time in company history.    

The 2021 performance represents a 20% increase over the previous year’s sales efforts, with five of the brand’s most popular sedan, SUV and crossover models – Forte, Niro EV, Seltos, Sportage and Telluride – reaching all-time annual sales records.  

“Announcing best-ever annual sales is always a moment of pride, but for Kia to reach such heights in light of the ongoing pandemic and supply chain issues clearly illustrates the strength of our product line-up and the demand we have created for the Kia brand throughout 2021,” said Eric Watson, Kia America vice president of sales operations. 

The major car brand also saw an increase in demand for its hybrid and battery-electric vehicles in 2021, with sales up 97% year-over-year. The company plans to release a new all-electric EV6 and Sportage model in early 2022.
