Gulliver’s Restaurant, a well-known place in Irvine famous for its prime rib and English tavern-style setting, will close for good at the end of June, according to the Orange County Register, which cited the owner.
Oded Mazor told the Register that the landlord did not offer a lease renewal to the 56-year-old restaurant, located across from John Wayne Airport, because “they’re moving on to a very large project.”
According to CoStar records, the property is owned by Property Reserve Inc., the commercial real estate investment arm of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Property Reserve also owns the neighboring El Torito restaurant and its 1.4-acre lot.
City records show there are no pending development plans yet for the 1.5-acre Gulliver’s site at 18482 MacArthur Blvd.
