Sales of the online shopping site for non-profit Goodwill Industries have reached $1 billion, aided by the rise in e-commerce and the resale market.
About half of that revenue was made up over the past three years with 2020 sales totaling $171.3 million. The momentum around e-commerce brought on by the pandemic continues into this year with January sales totaling over $19 million.
The site, shopgoodwill.com, was built in 1999 by Goodwill of Orange County and is still owned and operated by the Santa Ana-based division.
Inventory for the online shop is culled from 129 Goodwill locations, with items sold either through auction-style purchasing or a buy-it-now feature.
