A 3,649-square-foot retail space at 28641 Marguerite Parkway in Mission Viejo is set to be home to another Gracie Barra Academy martial arts center. Irvine-based Gracie Barra America Inc. is opening the academy, which is set to teach Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. The company runs or is affiliated with martial arts schools across the county, some of which pay a fee to use the Gracie Barra name. The Gracie Barra Academy was founded in Brazil in 1983. This will be the second Gracie Barra in Mission Viejo and one of 11 in Orange County. The academy is opening at Avery Center, a former office building built in 1977 that now is a shopping center. Terms of the lease weren’t disclosed. Garrett Glava of Glava Foundation Corp. represented Gracie Barra. Mark Baziak and Terrison Quinn of Grubb & Ellis Co. represented landlord Pacific Castle International LLC.
