She received her bachelor's degree in English and minor in Professional Writing from the University of California, Los Angeles, where she worked at the renowned Daily Bruin and Al-Talib Newsmagazine. Shirazian is a freelance book editor and poet whose poems have been published in the San Diego Poetry Annual and Al-Talib Newsmagazine.
