
The Olive Crest Treatment Center’s 40th anniversary gala on May 4 raised $275,000 to support local Olive Crest programs for at-risk youth and families. More than 400 guests attended the event at the Island Hotel in Newport Beach.
Honorary event chair Donna Giordano, president of the Ralphs Division of Kroger Co., was recognized for her work on behalf of abused children. Duane and Holly Roberts, owners of the Mission Inn in Riverside, received the Olive Crest Legacy Award.
More than 270 guests attended the 13th Annual “A Gathering of Friends Gala” held by the Alzheimer’s Family Services Center on May 11 in Huntington Beach.
The event, which took place at The Waterfront Beach Resort, raised $190,000.
This year’s Gathering of Friends was titled “Dancing through the Decades,” with themed decor that resembled a dance studio.
The Kinship Center’s inaugural Spring Soiree brought in $70,000 on May 18 at the Yorba Linda Country Club.
More than 200 guests attended the event; proceeds will be used to help children who have been victims of abuse.
The event is the first combined event for the Kinship Center and Canyon Acres. The two organizations recently merged under the umbrella of Seneca Family of Agencies.
The Children’s Champion Award was presented to Heidi Molgaard, Irvine Company director of operations management, and Irvine Co. for its support of Canyon Acres’ Ranch Renovation Project, a revitalization effort to equip the ranch property to accommodate expanded therapeutic services.
The Rylie’s Angels A-T Golf Tournament, held on May 13 at the Dove Canyon Country Club, netted $46,000 to help find a cure or life-improving therapies for children with Ataxia-telangiectasia, or A-T, a rare genetic disease that attacks children.
The first-time event drew 250 people.
It honors Rylie Rahall, whose father, Tim, organized the event. Tim Rahall is a senior manager at Ernst & Young and an A-T Children’s Project board member.
Event sponsors included Boeing, Clean Energy and Ernst & Young, among others. The event’s featured speaker, ultrarunner and endurance coach Tim Borland, ran 63 marathons in 63 days for A-T awareness and research.
The National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians received a $400,000 donation from Lynch Ambulance of Anaheim.
The donation was given in honor of National Emergency Medical Services Week, which took place May 19 through 25.
“This is a tremendous contribution that will be used to further the professional development of EMTs, paramedics and others in the industry, as well as to grow the EMS industry beyond emergency response into the wider realm of heathcare,” Don Lundy, board president for the association, said in a press release. “We are humbled by the recognition that Lynch Ambulance has given to our cause.”
Lynch Ambulance operates more than 30 ambulances and serves all of Orange County and parts of Riverside and Los Angeles counties.
Gregory P. Cox is the new vice president of development at the Pacific Symphony. Prior to joining the symphony, he served as vice president for advancement for Southern California Radio (KPCC, KUOR and KVLA), where he increased overall fundraising results in each of the past two years and grew membership by 23%.
