Robert Beart has joined Mission Viejo-based SafeShot Technologies LLC as chief executive. SafeShot makes syringes that are intended to increase the safety of healthcare professionals. Beart is a professor of surgery at the Keck School of Medicine at the University of Southern California. He previously served as editor in chief for medical journal Diseases of the Colon and Rectum and also has served on many editorial boards.

Tim Leech has joined Alliant Insurance Services Inc. in Newport Beach as first vice president. Leech will direct the nationwide operations of Alliant’s loss control and safety group. Leech previously served as director of global risk consulting for an insurance brokerage.
