ACCOUNTING

Irvine-based RSM McGladrey Inc. hired Tim Hufler as a consulting services director in the financial advisory services practice. The firm also promoted Craig Wickwire to tax services director. Hufler previously was a director at Grant Thornton LLP in Irvine. Wickwire is a senior member of the firm’s private client services practice group, which provides accounting services for wealthy individuals.

SingerLewak LLP added Javier Ramirez as a partner in its Irvine office. Ramirez specializes in state and local tax services and works with clients in a number of industries including construction, retail, manufacturing and technology. He previously was an executive director at Grant Thornton.

CONSULTING

Aon Consulting World-wide Inc., part of Chi-cago-based Aon Corp., hired Yannick Gagne

as a senior vice presdent. Gagne, who will head the retirement practice for offices in Southern California, San Francisco, Hawaii and Denver, will be based in Irvine. He will be responsible for business development and financial risk management. He previously was a principal at Mercer LLC.

Resources Connection Inc. hired Ellie Anest as director of client service in its Costa Mesa office. Anest will be responsible for managing client relationships and local business development. Most recently she was the owner of Anest Financial Solutions, a consulting company in Laguna Niguel. She also previously worked at Irvine-based Taco Bell Corp. as manager of media services.

EDUCATION

DeVry University appointed Maria Acosta as dean of its Anaheim center, which is slated to open early next year. Acosta previously was director of the Victor Valley campus at Chapman University. She has held management positions at Ohlone Col-lege in Fremont and California State Univer-sity, Hayward.

Santa Ana-based Ran-cho Santiago Commun-ity College District ap-pointed Ruth Cossio-Muñiz as director of the Workplace Learning Re-source Center. In this role she will oversee the state-funded program, which includes job training for businesses and technical assistance for the unemployed. She previously was the assistant director of the Orange County Small Business Development Center in Santa Ana.

EMPLOYMENT

Cary Bilstein was hired as managing director of Kforce Inc. in Irvine. He has more than 14 years of experience.

HEALTHCARE

Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian re-elected Dick Allen as director of its board. He previously served on the board from 1990 to 2008 and was chair for six of those years. Allen has a 40-year career in the healthcare industry and is a major benefactor of the Mary and Dick Allen Diabetes Center at Hoag Hospital.

University Medical Pharmaceuticals Corp. hired Jeffrey Ten as senior vice president of international sales. Ten, who will be based in the company’s Irvine office, most recently was president of Calvin Klein Inc.’s beauty division. He specializes in global brand development.

NONPROFIT

Orange County’s Serving People in Need elected Mary Lou Shattuck as the chairman of the board for 2009 to 2010. Shattuck was the 2009 citizen of the year for the city of Huntington Beach.

REAL ESTATE

CT/KDF Community Development Partners in Newport Beach added Sarah Woodward as a partner. Woodward previously was vice president and regional manager of now defunct Fremont Investment & Loan’s

commercial real estate division in Irvine. She is a 25-year veteran of real estate finance and specializes in property valuation, debt restructuring and structured finance.

Frost Mortgage Lending Group hired Momi Pointer as branch manager of its new southern California branch in Santa Ana. She has more than 10 years of experience in the mortgage industry, including wholesale, retail and procession loans.

Donny Disbro joined the board for the Orange County chapter of the Building Industry Association of Southern California.

SPORTS

Gregg Hammann joined the Irvine operations of London-based Power Plate International Ltd. as global chief executive. Hammann has more than 20 years of experience in executive management and previously worked at Vancou-ver, Wash.-based Naut-ilus Inc. Power Plate International is a maker of exercise gear based on vibration technology developed by the Soviets in the 1960s.
