9 Honored for OC Philanthropy

Nine business leaders and organizations will be honored at the National Philanthropy Day Orange County Awards on November 15 at a luncheon at the Hyatt Regency Orange County in Garden Grove.

Among the honorees are:

Lifetime achievement award: Joann Leatherby, president at Leatherby Family Foundation

Outstanding philanthropist: Bruno Serato, chef and owner of the Anaheim White House Restaurant

Outstanding philanthropic group: Assistance League Anaheim, a part of the National Assistance League

Outstanding founder: Ronald Simon of Newport Beach-based RSI Holding Corp. and the Simon Foundation for Education and Housing

Outstanding small business: S.D. Deacon Corp. of California, a general contractor company in Irvine

Outstanding mid-size business: The OC offices of Long Beach-based Farmers & Merchants Bank

Outstanding large business: Newport Beach-based Pimco Foundation

Outstanding youth: Nikita Urs, a Santa Ana teenager who collects gift-filled shoeboxes for kids,

Outstanding volunteer fundraise: Joe Lins of Fullerton
