Apparel manufacturer Classic Fashion opened a new $4 million production facility in Santa Ana this month.
The 12,060-square-foot warehouse property on South Susan Street marks the Jordan-based company’s first U.S. location.
Classic Fashion is reported to be the largest garment manufacturer in the Middle East and Africa with over 30,000 worldwide employees.
Named Walmart’s Supplier of the Year in 2020, Classic Fashion has been working with the big-box retailer to establish a U.S. design office since 2016. The project is a result of Walmart’s focus on investing in products made, assembled, or grown in the U.S.
Walmart last year committed $350 billion to this goal through 2030.
Set up under the name The Cut & Sew Co. Inc., Classic Fashion’s newest facility
will cut and sew apparel exclusively for Walmart.
The site is expected to bring 350 jobs to OC over the next five years starting with 125 positions by 2023, according to officials.
Senior vice presidents from Walmart and Santa Ana Mayor Vicente Sarmiento joined Chairman and Managing Director Sanal Kumar at the official opening on Oct. 6.
“I’m proud to highlight our incredible U.S.-based manufacturing staff and the local community here in Santa Ana as we continue to build on Classic Fashion’s 20-year history of success,” Kumar said.
With the in-house capacity to produce 500,000 to 550,000 garments daily, the manufacturer reported fiscal revenue of $802 million for 2021.
