TONY MOISO
CHAIRMAN/CEO
RANCHO MISSION VIEJO
WHY: About 6,000 acres of the 23,000-acre Rancho Mission Viejo, a suburban enclave near San Juan Capistrano, will be developed into houses. The ranch property has been in the hands of three families – Moiso, O’Neill and Avery, since 1882.
IN THE NEWS: Rancho Mission Viejo announced in September that Trumark Homes and Shea Homes would build 175 houses in three new neighborhoods at the Village of Rienda. Phases 1 and 2 at Rienda brought 1,225 homes online.
NOTABLE: Kris Maher, Rancho Mission Viejo’s senior vice president of community development, said the new phase of homes being built by Shea and Trumark are the largest, by square feet, of any houses built at Rienda, the first of six villages planned for The Ranch.
