Irvine-based Panasonic Avionics Corp.’s Astrova in-flight entertainment (IFE) solution has entered passenger service aboard Saudia’s brand-new Airbus A321XLR fleet.
The June 2 launch was part of a commitment to incorporate Panasonic Avionics’ Astrova platform and Arc interactive map application in 15 Airbus planes. Previously, Saudia Airlines and Panasonic Avionics agreed to retrofit Astrova across 46 of the airline’s single and dual-aisle aircrafts.
The IFE and connectivity solution provider’s Astrova system includes 4K displays, spatial audio and “guest engagement capabilities designed to deliver a next-generation onboard experience,” representatives from Panasonic Avionics said in a statement.
“Astrova, MI, and Arc have been designed to give airlines greater flexibility and to evolve and enhance the onboard experience over time. Working together, Saudia and Panasonic Avionics are revolutionizing in-flight engagement by providing guests with an immersive and highly personalized entertainment environment,” said Hernan Abbes, senior vice president of global sales.
