The Museum of Weed

Weedmaps is opening its own “pop-up” museum next month in Hollywood.

The aim of the Weedmaps Museum of Weed in Hollywood is to destigmatize cannabis by featuring exhibits such as on “Reefer Madness” propaganda, the war on drugs and present-day legalization efforts.

“Despite increasing efforts to decriminalize cannabis, and overwhelming evidence about its benefits, stigma around weed continues to run deep,” Weedmaps Chief Executive Chris Beals said on the company’s website. “Through the Weedmaps Museum of Weed, we hope to provide visitors with a robust understanding of the highs and lows of cannabis history, and to create a stronger understanding of the importance of this plant and its potential.”

The 30,000-square-foot facility will be open from Aug. 9 through Sept. 29 at 720 N. Cahuenga Blvd.

Entrance will cost $35 for anyone over 18. A VIP ticket for those over 21 costs $200, providing a “look at cannabis history with plenty of time to share meaningful moments with your best buds,” according to a website selling the tickets.

Beals said if the museum is a success, Weedmaps may extend its exhibition or possibly take it elsewhere to other cities.
