Midday Stock Roundup

The S&P 500 was flat at 2,100.38.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 0.3% to 17,983.95. The Nasdaq was up 0.6% to 5,022.74.

The yield on a 10-year Treasury bond was up 0.7% to 1.91%.

The price of gold was up 0.7% to $1,201.

TECHNOLOGY

Irvine-based Western Digital Corp. was down 1.8% to $99.71 and a $23 billion market cap. On Friday its main storage maker competitor Cupertino-based Seagate Technology Plc reported a quarterly revenue decline that also missed analysts’ expectations, on softer personal computer sales in the first quarter of the year. Western Digital reports earnings Tuesday, April 28. The consensus revenue estimate for the company calls for a 3% decline.

HEALTHCARE

Tustin-based Peregrine Pharmaceuticals Inc. was up 2.5% to $1.45 and a $272 million market cap. The cancer drug developer said positive preclinical study data involving its lead antibody product bavituximab is being presented at an annual meeting of cancer researchers this week.

SERVICES

Irvine-based Local Corp. was up 22% to 66 cents and a $15 million market cap. The online search and advertising services company had traded about 700,000 shares at midday, compared with a 90-day full-day average of 73,000.
