The S&P 500 rose 0.65% to 1,974.46 in midday trading.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.56% to 16,911.59 and the Nasdaq rose 1.26% to 4,542.50.
The yield on a 10-year Treasury bond rose 0.84% to 2.28%.
The price of gold was flat at $1,229.
RESTAURANTS
Huntington Beach-based BJ’s Restaurants Inc. was up 3.2% to $43.78 and a market cap of $1.2 billion. The company’s stock is up about 30% in the last three days after positive earnings results and an analyst upgrade from Memphis, Tenn.-based Wunderlich Securities.
EDUCATION
Santa Ana-based Corinthian Colleges Inc. was down 6% to 18 cents and a market cap of $15.9 million. Wisconsin said it’s suing the company, alleging deceptive job placement marketing at an Everest College site in Milwaukee. Everest is a unit of Corinthian.
