Midday Stock Roundup

The S&P 500 declined 0.25% to 1,959.70 in midday trading.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 0.1% to 16,793.15 and the Nasdaq fell 0.1% to 4,478.23.

The yield on a 10-year Treasury bond dropped 0.5% to 2.26%.

The price of gold was down 0.2% to $1,229.60.

TECHNOLOGY

Irvine-based storage products maker Western Digital Corp. was up 1.7% to $93.20 and a market cap of $21.8 billion. Investors are bidding up the stock prior to an expected positive earnings report, which is slated for after the markets close tomorrow.

BANKING

Irvine-based Opus Bank was down 6% to $27.50 and market cap of $772.8 million on a big drop in net income. This morning it reported third quarter net income of $7.7 million or 24 cents per diluted share compared with net income of $109.4 million or $3.79 per diluted share for the same period last year.
